Thank you to the few who came along to the AGM on Friday night or who emailed their intention of support.
A big warm welcome to our newest members, as well as those who agreed to step forward for another year actively supporting the management of the pool.
We will try for another season as long as we can find lifeguards, pool plant operators and volunteers to man the pool desk; but if there is no more forthcoming support, the pool will look at closing it's doors for good in September.
The pool has had some financial struggles, but it takes approx £30,000 to run! Costs for chemicals, insurance, heating/ oil, lifeguarding are pretty constant and cannot be cut. As a charity the pool has never run for a profit and has mostly run at a loss. Half of the running costs are raised through ticket sales the shortfall being made up by refreshment sales, fundraising, grants and donations. And we are so grateful for all those who are regular supporters of the 100 club and bonus ball.
As you can guess, this is a very large commitment for the existing handful of committee members who give their time freely.
Without the extra support of volunteers what was a pleasurable supportive commitment becomes a stressful, demanding chore. Please consider helping out!
The committee cannot run the pool whilst manning the desk. They have other responsibilities, they must attend to. And occasionally they may even want to make use of the pool and get in with their own families!
We need a minimum of 14 people willing to commit to one 2hr shift, selling tickets and refreshments every fortnight between 23rd May and 30th August.
Do you have 2hrs you can spare every other week?
But if everyone did that you cannot believe the difference it would make!
Please help us...
